On 19th April Epping Forest District Council’s Development Committee meeting issued a resolution to grant planning permission to Qualis Commercial for its Roundhills development in Waltham Abbey.
The development will provide 28 quality two and three bedroom homes on the site of the former Waltham Abbey Swimming Pool including affordable homes.
Simon Rutter, Managing Director of Qualis Commercial comments, “This decision is the conclusion of almost two years of hard work by our experienced professional team which included webinar presentations to the local community and a dedicated consultation website which allowed us to take on board comments made during the consultation period.
“We look forward to starting work on site to deliver these high quality new homes as well as providing financial and community benefits to the local area.”
All of the properties at Roundhills will benefit from a private garden with rear access and designated parking space. The development has also been designed to integrate with the local area with natural planting and integrated areas of community space for outdoor play and seating.
The homes will benefit from enhanced sustainability performance including renewable heating, high levels of insulation to help with the ongoing increases in energy costs and have been designed to be photo voltaic ready. There will also be electric vehicle charging points as part of the development.
The overall site biodiversity will be enhanced through a combination of new tree planting, rainwater capture, bat and bird boxes, natural habitats and integrated pedestrian and cycle routes that connect existing links through and around the site.
