Work to deliver 45 high-quality, sustainable new homes in Epping town centre has officially begun, Qualis Homes has announced.
The first phase of construction is underway at Springwood Grove, Epping High Street, which is based on the site of the former Conder building.
The flagship development – the first units of which are set to complete in Spring 2024 – will feature 29 contemporary apartments across three buildings, including one, two and three-bedroom homes, together with 16 new three and four-bedroom townhouses.
Contractor, Davis Construction, have been busy establishing themselves on-site, readying the area for construction. The first foundations have now been poured for the new houses, with works due to commence shortly to the apartments.
Darran Telling, Project Manager at Qualis Commercial, said: “The start of construction at Springwood Grove marks another major milestone for Qualis Homes to deliver a range of much-needed new homes for Epping Town Centre.”
“We are delighted by the progress Davis Construction has made to date. The team will be drawing on its impressive track record of delivering high-quality residential schemes across the South East to ensure the homes at Springwood Grove are built to the highest-possible standards, while embracing sustainability.”
Tom Davis, Managing Director at Davis Construction, added: “We are making great progress as we work to deliver this superb new development to Epping Town Centre.
“The team is genuinely committed to creating a scheme that the whole community can take pride in. We are, of course, also ensuring that local residents are kept up to date about our works over the coming months.”
As part of Qualis Homes’ commitment to protecting the planet and to keep energy bills as low as possible for future residents, the new homes will feature a range of sustainability features.
In addition to a fabric-first approach, they offer a range of environmental features including air source heat pumps, solar panels, biodiversity roofs, bird and bat boxes, electric car chargers and bicycle storage.
The development will be enriched by a collection of both existing trees and those that will be planted as part of the development. A natural pond located within the site will also be protected as part of the biodiversity strategy.
As part of the Springwood Grove project, Qualis Homes will contribute over £750,000 back to the district, to help fund projects such as the improvements to the Lower Swaines Playground and Stonards Hill Recreation Ground.
