The new car park, which forms the first phase of development at Cottis Lane is approaching completion with construction advancing into the final stages. This project marks a significant step towards the future development of Epping town centre.

The £11.5 million car park is set to be delivered to budget, and open in the coming weeks. The 330 space car park will pave the way for the commencement of Epping Forest District Council’s eagerly awaited brand new leisure centre and swimming pool.

With a focus on supporting the local council’s ambition to enhance Epping town centre by utilising brownfield sites, the Cottis Lane car park project with hard work from Qualis Commercial and its contractors, RG Group, is very close to being open for the public.

Sacha Jevans, Qualis Group Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled to announce that construction work for the Cottis Lane car park is approaching completion in the coming weeks, thanks to the diligent efforts of our teams and contractors.

“This milestone achievement marks a significant part of the strategic vision for Epping, as this car park serves as the catalyst for the launch of the new Leisure Centre at Bakers Lane.”

The Cottis Lane car park is poised to provide modern amenities and sustainable features, including electric vehicle charging stations and a Park Mark Gold Standard status, which is a nationally recognised benchmark for a secure parking environment for both vehicles and drivers. Charges for the car park will be in line with Epping Forest District Council’s current rates.

Councillor John Philip, Cabinet member for Finance, Economic Development and Qualis said: “Congratulations to Qualis, the opening of Cottis Lane will pave the way for exciting developments to follow, with work on the new Epping Leisure Centre beginning soon.”

Councillor Ray Balcombe, Cabinet member for Contracts, Service Delivery and Improvement added: “Combined with the new car park, it will boost the whole town, promoting healthier lifestyles, providing employment for local people, and supporting the high street economy. The delivery of the new car park should leave no one in any doubt of our commitment to the future of Epping.”

Cottis Lane is part of a five-site redevelopment plan for the town centre which will see the creation of new homes across three residential sites.

Qualis Commercial will also be providing a ‘meanwhile space’ ahead of the start of the second phase of work at the Cottis Lane site, which will include retail and leisure units. This space will provide an area for the local community to meet, socialise and enjoy.  It includes seating, enhanced planting, children’s play logs and a table tennis table.
