Qualis Commercial has begun construction this week of 28 affordable family sized homes on the site of the former swimming pool at Roundhills in Waltham Abbey. The homes are being delivered in partnership with Epping Forest District Council who will purchase the homes on completion to add to its affordable housing portfolio.
The homes offered within the development will comprise 22, 2-bedroom houses and 6, 3-bedroom houses.
Qualis Commercial received planning approval for the delivery of homes on this site in August 2023 and the sale, approved by Cabinet at the end of May this year, signalled the go-ahead for construction to begin.
“The development will breathe new life into this brownfield site that has been unused for several years. More importantly though, it will provide much-needed new affordable homes in Waltham Abbey and we are excited to see construction begin,” said Qualis Commercial Managing Director Simon Rutter.
“The 28 homes at Roundhills will add high-quality, affordable housing to our portfolio and offer a secure home to families across the Epping Forest District,” said Epping Forest District Chief Operating Officer Jen Gould.
The Roundhills development is one of five Qualis-owned sites set to deliver 320 new homes including 76 affordable homes across the district. Its first development of 45 new homes at Springwood Grove in Epping launched to the market in May this year and the first of 184 homes at Verdant Place in Epping will be available later this year.
Regular updates about the Roundhills development will be provided as the project progresses.
