18 volunteers, nearly 100 hours given, two very worthy causes supported and more to come

Earlier this year we launched our Volunteering Policy so that employees could give their time in support of worthwhile projects across the Epping Forest District.

To date, 18 volunteers have seized the opportunity, giving nearly 100 hours of support to two fantastic causes.

Two teams of staff volunteered for Epping Forest Food Bank’s Summer Food in School Holidays campaign, packing and delivering emergency food parcels to families across the District.

Other staff members put their hands up to support Restore Community in repainting Oakwood Hill Community Centre, giving the facility a much-welcomed fresher look.

A day enjoyed by everyone who took part

Executive Assistant Lucy White volunteered at Epping Forest Food Bank.

“It was a really rewarding day, not only because what we were doing was so worthwhile but also because of the people we met,” she said.

“It makes you feel part of the community and I was proud to be there and making a difference.”

Qualis Property Solutions Managing Director Ben Johnson also volunteered at the food bank.

“The policy supports our business objective of working to maximise community benefit – in a real, tangible and immediate way,” he said.

“More than that though, it provides a unique opportunity to improve your own wellbeing and that of others, make new connections and build a sense of purpose.”

Community Benefit Fund provides additional support

In addition to volunteering, we have provided financial support to both Epping Forest Food Bank and Restore Community through our Community Benefit Fund. The funding has been used to support the food bank in delivering its school holiday programme and to construct a secure storage facility at Oakwood Hill Community Centre.
