The Lions on the Loose art trail is now live, see how many of these fantastic lions can you find in Epping, Loughton and Harlow!
A pride of 32 colourfully decorated, super-size Lion sculptures is roaming Epping, Loughton and Harlow until September, providing un-fur-gettable fun for all of the family, bringing colour, creativity, and community spirit to the streets.
Each sculpture is sponsored by a local business or organisation and has been uniquely decorated by talented artists from across the region.
Lions on the Loose is proudly presented by St Clare Hospice, in partnership with Wild in Art.

Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) and Qualis Property Solutions have both sponsored Lions:
- Life in Epping Forest – an EFDC lion created by artist Joanna Maria
- Roary the Lion – a Qualis lion created by Sarah Emily Porter
Alongside the main art trail, a further collection of 32 little lions are also on display. They were created by local schools, nurseries and community groups, showcasing the creativity of our young people. Councillors Holly and Chris Whitbread funded some of the little lions from their Essex County Council locality budgets.

A brilliant celebration of our area
It’s fantastic to see St Clare Hospice’s Lions on the Loose sculptures arriving in Epping, Loughton and our neighbouring town of Harlow. The Epping Forest district lion outside the civic offices in Epping looks wonderful and is a brilliant celebration of our local area.
I’m looking forward to seeing all the lions on the trail over the summer. It’s a fun activity for people of all ages and a great way to explore our towns while supporting an incredibly important cause.
At a time when hospices face significant financial pressures, it’s more important than ever to support St Clare Hospice and the outstanding care it provides to local people and their families. I hope as many people as possible get involved, enjoy the trail and help raise vital funds for this fantastic local charity.

What will happen to the lions?
The Farewell Weekend is your chance to see the entire pride of lions together in one place for the very last time before they head to auction.

The pride of lions will be finding their forever home going under the hammer at Auction to raise vital funds for St Clare Hospice. The auction will be held both in person, with the option to bid online for those unable to attend.

St Clare Hospice
St Clare Hospice is a local charity and cares for hundreds of people across West Essex and the East Hertfordshire border each year. They provide free, compassionate care and support to adults who are living with a life-limiting illness, facing the end of life or experiencing bereavement.
