Residents and staff from Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) and Qualis Management worked in the hot weather on Wednesday 8th September to help brighten up two sites at Paradise Road and Greenyard in Waltham Abbey which have recently become part of the community growing project.

The Estate and Land team, and Community, Culture & Wellbeing team from EFDC have been working alongside residents, across parts of the district, to help enhance various areas with plants and flowers and bring communities together through a love of gardening.

Staff from Qualis Management were also there to give an invaluable helping hand by assisting with moving some of the very heavy materials.

This is the fifth site to be part of the community growing project over the last year. New and colourful planters were installed in Shelley in Ongar and two sensory gardens have been made in Ninefields in Waltham Abbey.  As well as brightening up each area, these new planters encourage insects and wildlife to visit and pollinate the flowers.

Residents have been thrilled with the results to the growing project.

One resident from Paradise Road said: “The teams came and surprised us with some beautiful plants which have made our gardens look a picture.”

Another resident from Paradise Road said: “They have done a wonderful job with the display at the front of my flat and the flowers are beautiful.”
