Epping Forest Foodbank received £4,950 from our Community Benefit Fund, together with in-kind volunteering support.
The money was used to support the Summer Food in School Holidays Campaign. It provided food and care packages to 150 families across the Epping Forest district over the summer holidays, ensuring that children who would usually benefit from a school lunch continued to have access to a nutritionally balanced meal.
As well as providing financial support, our employees donated their time.
Four teams of volunteers supported the regular team of foodbank volunteers with packing the food parcels and delivering these to families across the district.
Epping Forest Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. It provides emergency food parcels to people who live in or near the Epping Forest District who have been referred by frontline care professionals.
Everyone that comes to Epping Forest Foodbank gets a guaranteed bag containing enough emergency supplies to feed the entire household for a minimum of three days.
In the financial year 2023/2024, the foodbank supported 9,179 people, of which 3,790 were children.
